Burndown chart helps you to visualize how many stories you are burning through at an instance of time. It is a graph to show total effort against the amount of work delivered in each iteration. It allows you to measure two things:

• The amount of work left
• The amount of time left to complete the work

It is also known as Release Burndown Chart or Sprint Burndown Chart.
